Cletus Ibeto 

Cletus Madubugwu Ibeto is one of Nigeria’s most influential indigenous industrialists, building a multi-sector empire. His rise began after his apprenticeship, when he entered the auto-parts import trade in Nnewi, then an emerging hub for automotive commerce. By 1988, he pivoted from trading to manufacturing, launching a factory that produced lead-acid batteries and plastic motor components. By 1995, the Ibeto Group had become a force in Nigeria’s auto-parts supply chain.

Ibeto deepened his industrial footprint in 1996 with the creation of Ibeto Petrochemical Industries, a key player in lubricant blending and petroleum trading with one of the country’s largest private storage terminals. Other units of the group include Union Autoparts Manufacturing, Odoh Holdings (real estate), Cotton Wooden Gas (gas processing), Ibeto Port and Terminal (logistics), and Ibeto Hotels in Abuja.

In the cement sector, Ibeto Cement, founded in 1997, pursued an $850 million deal with Milost Global and later secured a controlling stake in U.S.-listed Century Petroleum through a 2018 reverse merger.

Prince Arthur Eze 

Prince Arthur I. Eze is a Nigerian businessman, oil executive, and philanthropist, best known as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, the country’s largest privately owned exploration and production group. A prominent figure in West Africa’s energy landscape, Eze oversees a portfolio that includes 22 oil and gas licenses across 12 African jurisdictions, with assets spanning Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia and Liberia. The company operates regional offices across West Africa, with its technical base in Lagos and corporate headquarters in Abuja.

Eze earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and chemical engineering from California State University in 1978. In July 2023, he was appointed Chancellor of Azman University in Kano. He also previously served as Chancellor of Ebonyi State University. His philanthropic activity, political influence and long-standing role in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry have drawn widespread recognition.

Cosmas Maduka 

Dr. Cosmas Maduka is the founder and CEO of Coscharis Group, a Nigerian conglomerate spanning automotive distribution, manufacturing, agribusiness, petrochemicals and ICT. He launched Coscharis Motors as a sole proprietorship and expanded it into one of West Africa’s most influential auto companies, securing exclusive franchises for BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar and Abro consumer products. The company also serves as a key Ford distribution partner in Nigeria, reinforcing its position in the premium and mass-market segments.

Beyond automotive operations, Maduka sits on the boards of CG-EKO LLP, First System Refinishes, CG Biostadt and Sixt Rentals Nigeria. A prominent figure in business and sports administration, he previously spent 12 years on the board of Access Bank and led the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation for 16 years, overseeing multiple Olympic outings.

Maduka holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Nigeria, completed executive education at Harvard Business School, and is a Commander of the Order of the Niger.

Innocent Chukwuma 

Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, founder and CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, heads Nigeria’s first indigenous automobile producer and one of West Africa’s fastest-growing industrial groups. Chukwuma built his career from the Nnewi spare-parts trading ecosystem, launching Gabros International in 1980 before expanding into plastics, component manufacturing, manufacturing and large-scale assembly.

He formalised the Innoson Group in the early 1980s and entered full vehicle manufacturing in 2007, creating IVM now a supplier to the Nigerian Army, police, and multiple state governments.

Chukwuma’s model leverages backward integration, with subsidiaries spanning plastics, tyres, tubes, motorcycles and industrial components. The company has also invested in CNG-powered vehicles and commissioned a multibillion-naira plant expansion in 2024, positioning IVM to benefit from Nigeria’s push for local manufacturing and energy transition.

A Commander of the Order of the Niger, Chukwuma remains a central figure in Nigeria’s auto-industrial strategy, with operations anchored in Nnewi and Enugu.

Orji Uzor Kalu  

Orji Uzor Kalu is a Nigerian businessman, investor, and politician, currently serving as the senator representing Abia North. He is the chairman and founder of SLOK Holding, a diversified conglomerate with interests spanning publishing, oil and gas, furniture, vegetable oil, aviation, and banking.

Kalu oversees major subsidiaries, including Daily Sun, New Telegraph, Supreme Oil, First International Bank, and SLOK Vegetable Oil, with operations extending across Nigeria, the U.K., U.S., and several African countries.

Kalu’s entrepreneurial career began trading palm oil and furniture with just $35 in 1980, eventually building one of Nigeria’s most influential indigenous business empires. He also served as governor of Abia State from 1999 to 2007, and has held leadership roles in banking, media, and international trade relations.

He holds a degree from Abia State University, a Harvard certificate in business administration, and has received multiple honorary doctorates. Kalu’s influence spans politics, commerce, and media in Nigeria.

Samuel Madukah Onyishi 

Dr. Samuel Maduka Onyishi is a Nigerian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of the Peace Group of Companies, including Peace Mass Transit, one of the country’s largest indigenous transportation networks. Starting with just two buses in 1994, Onyishi has expanded his fleet to over 4,000 vehicles, positioning the company as a major player in Nigeria’s transport sector.

A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Onyishi holds a Second Class Upper in Social Work and Community Development and earned an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona, U.S. He is also the founder of Samuel Maduka University, Enugu, which opened its doors in 2023.

Onyishi has diversified his portfolio into leasing, acquiring a majority stake in C&I Leasing in 2021, and serves as a Non-Executive Director of May & Baker Nigeria Plc. Through the Samuel Maduka Onyishi African Entrepreneurship Foundation, he supports education and entrepreneurship across Nigeria.

Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii 

Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii is a Nigerian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and politician, best known as the founder and chairman of Orient Global Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests across real estate, manufacturing, and services.

Born in Ebonyi State, Odii holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the National Open University of Nigeria and a Doctor of Science in Strategic Business Management & Corporate Governance from the European American University, Panama. He also completed the Chief Executive Program at Lagos Business School and serves on the governing boards of Lagos State University and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Business School.

Odii’s business acumen has earned him recognition as one of Guardian Newspaper’s top 50 CEOs impacting Nigeria’s GDP growth in 2021, and he has received the Independent Newspaper Philanthropist of the Year award. Through the Ebele and Anyichuks Foundation, he has delivered housing, roads, churches, scholarships, and COVID-19 relief across Nigeria. In politics, he was the 2023 PDP gubernatorial candidate for Ebonyi State.

Leo Stan Ekeh 

Leonard Stanley Nnamdi Ekeh is a Nigerian entrepreneur and technology investor, best known as the founder and chairman of Zinox Group and chairman of Konga.com. Born in Imo State in 1956, Ekeh studied Economics at Punjab University, India, and earned an MSc in Risk Management from the University of Nottingham, UK. His international education shaped his understanding of scalable business models and technology-driven enterprises.

In 2001, Ekeh launched Zinox Technologies Limited, pioneering computer manufacturing in Nigeria. The company quickly achieved WHQL certification—the first in sub-Saharan Africa—and later earned the ISO 9001 QMS certification. Under his leadership, Zinox expanded into consumer electronics, launching the Zipad tablet line in 2013. In 2018, Ekeh strategically acquired 99% of Konga.com, one of Nigeria’s leading e-commerce platforms, integrating it with his technology ecosystem.

Tony Ezenna 

Anthony Ifeanyichukwu Ezenna is a Nigerian business magnate and philanthropist who has built a reputation as a pioneer in the pharmaceutical and consumer products distribution sector. He is the founder of Orange Drugs Nigeria Limited, a company that imports and distributes pharmaceutical and beauty products from the United States, Germany, Italy, and Indonesia.

Born in Port Harcourt in 1957, Ezenna grew up in Onitsha, attending Christ the King College after completing primary education at St. David Primary School, Owerre Akokwa.

Faced with financial challenges, he paused formal education to join his father’s business, gaining early entrepreneurial experience. Leveraging these skills, he founded Orange Drugs, which grew into a leading distributor in Nigeria’s healthcare and beauty markets.

Allen Oyema 

Allen Ifechukwu Onyema founded Air Peace in 2013, building the carrier after years of regulatory and financing setbacks that began when he first pursued the idea in 2007. He has said the airline was created to expand Nigeria’s aviation capacity and drive job creation.

Air Peace has since grown into one of the country’s largest operators, flying major domestic routes and serving international destinations including Ghana, Senegal, India, China, the UAE, the US and others, with a fleet that includes three Boeing 777s.

Onyema’s public profile extends beyond aviation. A longtime advocate for national cohesion, he launched the Nigeria Forever Project in 2005 and later supported government efforts to reduce militancy in the Niger Delta. In 2019, he funded the evacuation of Nigerians affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa. A law graduate of the University of Ibadan, he currently serves as chief executive of Air Peace Limited.
