The Nigerian stock market closed October 2025 on a strong note, rising 8% and extending the bullish streak that began in April.
Tracked by the NGX All-Share Index, the market opened the month at 142,713.1 points and closed at 154,126.4 points, with more than 12 billion shares traded as investor activity remained vibrant.
This strong performance makes October the second-best month of 2025 so far, coming just behind the solid 16.57% rally recorded in July.
That brings its year-to-date gain to an impressive 49.74%, with the second half of the year already contributing 28.46%.

Vitafoam Nigeria Plc (17.79%)

Vitafoam Nigeria Plc closed October as the tenth-best performer, gaining 17.79% for the month.
The stock opened at N79.80 and finished at N94.00, with over 32 million shares traded.
Aside from flat trading in the final week, the stock stayed in the green throughout October.
After a modest positive start, bullish momentum gathered pace in the third trading week, adding 7.41%, and strengthened further in the fourth with an 8.05% rise.
- The company reported a pretax profit of N7.3 billion for the three months ended September 2025, nearly double the N3.6 billion posted a year earlier.
- Full-year pretax profit jumped to N21.2 billion, powered by strong sales.

It rose over 20% in the first week, eased slightly mid-month, then regained strength to finish on a firm note.
In its Q1 2025 results for the period ended August 31, PZ Cussons swung from a loss of N5.22 billion to a pretax profit of N21.54 billion.
Revenue climbed 48% year-on-year to N59 billion, supported by higher sales, gains from asset disposals, and lower interest expenses.

Wema Bank Plc (20.29%)

Wema Bank Plc took the eighth spot, also rising 20.29% in October.
It opened the month at N17.70 and closed at N20.45, with over 372 million shares changing hands. This followed a weak September, when the stock fell 26.09%.
Gains were recorded in three of the five trading weeks, led by a strong fourth week that lifted the price to N20.50.
- Wema’s unaudited nine-month results showed pretax profit at N146.44 billion, up 141.6% from N60.6 billion in the same period last year.
- Interest income grew 72.65% to N396.95 billion, driven by higher yields and loan growth.

- For the quarter ended September 2025, net income rose to N252.8 million from N208.5 million, supported by stronger fixed-income and rental earnings.
Year-to-date, the trust is up 133.35%.
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc (22.96%)

MTN Nigeria ranked sixth, rewarding investors with a 22.96% return in October.
The telecom giant’s share price climbed from N425 to N520, closing every week higher, with more than 59 million shares traded. The biggest moves came in the second (10.82%) and fourth weeks (8.56%).
- MTN reported a pretax profit of N1.12 trillion for the nine months to September 2025, reversing a loss of N713.6 billion a year earlier.
- Revenue reached N3.73 trillion, with data services contributing 53% (N1.97 trillion).
So far this year, the stock has risen 160.05%.
Dangote Cement Plc (25.69%)

Dangote Cement Plc secured fifth place with a 25.69% gain in October.
The share price moved from N525.10 to N660.00, as 60 million shares were traded. Except for a slight decline in the final week, the stock recorded consistent weekly gains.
- Pretax profit for the nine months ended September 2025 surged 156.2% to N1.04 trillion on the back of strong Nigerian operations.
Revenue rose 23.2% to N3.15 trillion, with local sales contributing N2.18 trillion as volumes hit 13.2 million tonnes.
Year-to-date, Dangote Cement is up 37.84%.
Aradel Holdings Plc (27.15%)

Aradel Holdings Plc placed fourth and was the only oil and gas company in the top ten, delivering a 27.15% return in October.
The stock opened at N615 and closed at N782, with over 79 million shares traded. The sharpest rally came in the fourth week, which saw a 25.2% surge.
- For the nine months ended September 2025, Aradel reported pretax profit of N300.7 billion, up 57% from N191.5 billion in the prior year.
- Revenue jumped 43% to N538.8 billion, supported by a 25% rise in crude output and a 41% increase in gas production.
The stock has gained 30.77% so far in 2025.
Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc (30.00%)

Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc took third place with a 30.00% return in October, making it the only insurer on the list.
It started the month at N3.00 and ended at N3.90, trading 387 million shares. Except for the first week, the stock closed higher every week, with the second week alone adding more than 16%.
- For the quarter ended September 2025, insurance revenue increased 20% to N40.1 billion, while pretax profit stood at N301.6 million.
The stock has rallied 248.21% so far this year.
Eunisell Interlinked Plc (49.37%)

Eunisell Interlinked Plc surged 49.37% in October, earning the second spot on the list.
The share price advanced from N39.50 to N59.00 as 14 million shares were exchanged. Eunisell gained every week, breaking the N57 mark in the penultimate week and holding firm above N59 through month-end.
