The All-share index on the NSE grew by 0.17% to close at 26,355.35 basis points on a day where the total trade on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market summed up to N6.79 billion in 2,756 deals. The market closed positively today with a total market capitalisation of N25.4 trillion.

 

Top trade by volume

For the third consecutive day this week, banks stocks have led the list of most actively traded stocks as Zenith bank records the most actively traded stock on the bourse today with 103.7 million shares valued at N1.77 billion in 541 deals hereby constituting 26.1% of the total value of shares traded.

FCMB followed having traded 85.12 million shares valued at N136.6 million in 52 deals and GT Bank traded 39.18 million shares with a value of N980.5 million in 250 deals. UBA also made the list as it traded 21.7 million shares valued at N125.6 million in 199 deals while MTN Nigeria Plc rounded off the list after trading 21.25 million shares valued at N2.68 billion in 72 deals.

 

Top Gainers

Seplat petroleum development company Plc tops the chart of the best performing stocks today as it increased by 9.28% closing the day at N565 followed by Chams Plc whose stock rose by 9.09% to close at N0.24. Jaiz Bank gained 8.89% to close at N0.49, Consolidated hallmark insurance Plc gained 8.11% to close the day at N0.40 while Nigerian Breweries Plc capped the list with 8.11% gain to close at N50.

 

Top Losers

On the flip side, Unity bank Plc shed 8.47% to close at N0.54 while Law Union Insurance Plc despite gaining yesterday, lost 8.16% to close at N0.45. Union Diagnostic and clinical services Plc declined by 8% to close at N0.23. The other companies that declined on the bourse today include Oando Plc with 7.44% loss to close at N3.11 and Guaranty Trust bank Plc which declined by 2.35% to close the day at N24.9.
