Bears take over as Lafarge Africa falls to 9 year low

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, shed some of the gains made yesterday as the All Share Index closed at 32,108.03 basis points, down 0.14%. Year to date, the index is down 16.04%.

Top Gainers and Losers

Niger Insurance Plc was the best performing stock today. The closed at N0.22, up 10%. NPF Microfinance Bank was next with a 9.63% gain to close at N1.48. Fidson Healthcare rounds up the top three with an 8.89% gain to close at N4.90.

On the flip side, AIICO Insurance was the worst performing stock today. The stock shed 9.86% to close at N0.64. Lafarge Wapco declined by 9.77% to close at a 9 year low of N15.70

Mutual Benefits Assurance rounds up the top 3 losers with a 7.41% decline, closing at N0.25.

Top Trades by Volume 

The three most actively traded stocks were from the banking space. Zenith Bank was the most actively traded stock today with 288 million shares valued at N6.2 billion traded in 238 deals.

FBN Holdings was next with 40.9 million shares valued at N303 million traded in 316 deals.

Guaranty Trust Bank rounds up the trio with 33.7 million shares valued at N1.2 billion traded in 167 deals.
