British Airways has joined South African Airways and Lufthansa in refusing to fly to Kaduna during the six weeks that Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport would be shut.

The Kaduna airport option has been rejected by most international airlines citing all sorts of issues such as connectivity, logistics, safety etc. The local aviation market has implored on the Nigerian authorities to allow flight destinations to Abuja to terminate through Lagos so that local airlines can not shuttle passengers to Abuja local aiport.

The Nigerian Government will shut down the Abuja airport from March 8 in order to carry out repairs on its runways.
