National Pension Scheme Memberships Statistics

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) published national pension scheme membership data from first quarter 2014 to the third quater 2016. Here are highlights of the reports

• Pension scheme membership rose from 6.09 million in Q1 2014 to 6.51 million in Q1 2015
• It further rose to 7.07 million in Q1 2016 and is 7.30million as at Q3 2016.
• As at Q3 2016, retirement savings account membership made up 99% of total pensions. Federal had 1.8 million members, States were 1.4 millon & private members, 3.8 million.
• 5.1 million members were male and 2.0 million female with age group 30-39 years, having the highest membership.
