Abuja Disco Accuses “High Profile” Customers of “Theft”

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has accused its “high profile” customers of being responsible for the high incidence of energy theft in the FCT.

Executive Director, Commercial Services, Ernest Mupwaya, said a special task force set up to monitor the issue had discovered massive theft of electricity by many of its customers who use meters.

Mupwaya  did not provide details on who the “high profile personalities” involved in the theft were, or how they were stealing electricity using the metres.

He, however, warned all customers engaged in such fraudulent activities to desist from it as the AEDC would soon launch “Operation Shame Them” campaign to expose all those involved in the act, including the high profile personalities.

The director said the AEDC will  involve the police and the media in the exercise.
