The rising cost of poultry feed is severely impacting Nigerian poultry farmers, with many struggling to keep their businesses afloat.  
The Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has revealed that more than 30% of poultry farms across the country closed in the past six months, citing sector challenges.  
Poultry farmers across Nigeria reported a collective loss exceeding N3 trillion in investments in 2023 due to the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
PAN have urged the FG to continue the School Feeding Scheme due to the certainty of job creation and employment it creates for the poultry and agricultural sector in some states. 
The crisis in Nigeria’s Poultry industry could get much worse as farmers lose the capacity to feed their birds, due to rising costs of maize and scarcity.
Nigeria’s Poultry Farmers urged the incoming administration to implement affordable access to grains for feed production to ease the cost of production.
Due to the current egg glut, major poultry farms have now dropped their prices and are encountering total losses.
