NON-OIL EXPORTS

Nigeria recorded an upswing in its external trade position in the second quarter of 2025, as the country’s trade surplus widened by 44.3% to N7.46 trillion, up from N5.17 trillion in the previous quarter. 
Nigeria’s non-oil exports rose to $3.225 billion in the first half of 2025, marking a 19.59% increase compared to $2.696 billion recorded in the same period of 2024, according to the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). 
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reported that the country’s non-oil exports have increased by 19.23 per cent to US$0.62 billion, from US$0.52 billion in September 2024. 
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed that Nigeria earned $1.9 billion from non-oil exports between January and November 2024.  
Nigeria’s largest container terminal, the APM terminal Apapa has recorded 25% increase in non-oil export cargoes in the first half of the year when compared to the same period of last year.  
In the first quarter of 2024, Nigeria’s total exports increased by 51% from N12.69 trillion in the preceding quarter (Q4, 2023) to N19.16 trillion. On a year-on-year basis, total exports grew by 195% from N6.48 trillion recorded in Q1, 2023.  
NEPC says this is the highest non-oil export record in its books since it was formed.
