NIN-SIM VERIFICATION
Broadband penetration in Nigeria declined to 41.56% in September even as the country intensifies efforts to achieve 70% through the implementation of the National Broadband Plan (NBP 2020-2025).
The recently concluded verification of the National Identification Numbers (NINs) linked with mobile SIMs has led to a significant drop in the subscriptions database of all mobile network operators in the country as MTN, Airtel, Globacom, and 9mobile yanked off 64.3 million lines.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has ordered all telecommunication companies in the country to reactivate all lines they have barred over issues surrounding the linking and verification of National Identification Numbers (NIN) linked with their SIMs.
The restrictions were implemented due to the directive of the Federal Government.
The FG has once again approved the extension of the deadline for NIN-SIM data verification to October 31, 2021.
