IMF LOAN

Nigeria has a total domestic debt profile of N74.3 trillion and $44.9 billion in external debts as of December 2024. This is the list of Nigeria's top creditors.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has confirmed that Nigeria has fully repaid the $3.4 billion financial support it received under the Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI) to cushion the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The liquidity based indicators of the nation remain a concern, as they make Nigeria’s low debt-to-GDP ratio highly vulnerable to shocks.
Based on the terms of the Rapid Financing Instrument, Nigeria is expected to pay back the loan between within 3¼ to 5 years.
