MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited says persistent power outages in parts of Enugu are due to technical issues described as “code coverage conflicts and related glitches,” which have made it difficult to isolate the state’s electricity network from other areas under its parent company, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).  
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced that the state is finalising a deal with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to assume control of electricity supply in eight local government areas currently outside the coverage of Geometric Power.  
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has issued a disconnection notice to government establishments like Government Houses, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) offices, and Nigerian Army facilities in the southeast over N180 billion outstanding debt.  
Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo are expected to experience power outages following a system collapse.
